Why World Cancer Research Fund?
Monday 21st SepHello, I’m Charlotte, and I’m so excited to be supporting World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) by taking on the 2027 London Marathon.
World Cancer Research Fund is a UK cancer prevention charity specialising in how diet, weight and physical activity can affect the risk of developing and surviving cancer. Their work funds world-leading cancer prevention research, while also helping to support people living with and beyond cancer.
This charity is particularly personal to me. Over the past five years, both my Mum and Dad have been diagnosed with and treated for cancer. As you can imagine, this was an incredibly stressful and emotional time for both me and my family. Thankfully, both of my parents are now cancer-free, but it’s difficult to forget the impact those years had on our lives. The experience has truly taught me how important cancer research, prevention and support are, and how much charities like WCRF can do to make a difference.
By challenging myself to run the London Marathon in April 2027, I hope to raise as much money as possible to help WCRF continue their incredible work. Every donation will help fund vital research into preventing cancer and improving outcomes for those affected by the disease. Most importantly, I hope that the money raised can help reduce the number of families who have to experience the same uncertainty and worry that mine did, while ensuring that those going through a cancer diagnosis have the best possible chance of survival.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support. Whether you donate, share my fundraising page, or simply follow along with my marathon journey, it genuinely means so much to me!
Very proud of you! x
