																							Walking Forward: Every Step Counts
Sunday 19th OctA year ago, I was in the midst of one of the toughest battles of my life. After being diagnosed with cancer, I began 6 months of treatment two different courses of chemotherapy, followed by surgery. Those months tested every part of me. There were days when I felt strong and determined, and others when even getting out of bed felt impossible.
Throughout it all, I held on to one simple thought: if I made it through, I wanted to give something back. I wanted to honour the incredible care I received and help support the research that gives hope to so many people facing cancer.
Now, one year on from my diagnosis and in remission, I’m proud to be taking part in the World Cancer Research Fund’s 2km Steps a Day challenge. For me, it’s more than just a daily walk it’s a celebration of resilience, recovery, and gratitude. Each step is a reminder of how far I’ve come, and of the strength that carried me through those difficult months.
The World Cancer Research Fund plays a vital role in helping people reduce their cancer risk and live healthier lives through ground breaking research and education. By taking part in this challenge, I hope to raise awareness and funds that will make a difference for others who are still on their journey.
Walking 2km a day might seem small, but for me, it represents progress ,one steady step after another moving forward with purpose and hope. Whether you’ve faced cancer yourself, know someone who has, or simply want to support life-saving research, I encourage you to join me. Because every step counts. Every step brings us closer to a world where fewer people hear the words “you have cancer.” And every step is a reminder of just how powerful hope and community can be.
