Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

Charity Afternoon Tea

Sunday 25th Oct
After a long couple of months of planning and organising, I am very very pleased to say that the charity afternoon tea event that I organised raised £940 towards a great cause.

Thankyou to everyone who supported and to everyone for coming!

This puts me well over half way towards my fundraising target… 3 half marathons incoming next week for hitting the £1000, £1250 and £1500 mark. 😁😁 ❤️

Week 7!

Tuesday 15th Sep
After 7 weeks of fundraising for WCRF, I am very happy to say that i have raised £754.

In response to raising £750, I ran another half marathon (and a little bit more).

In this time I have also organised my first charity event which will take place on the 25th October at 2pm. This is an afternoon tea and tarot reading event ☺️

Week 3 update

Monday 17th Aug
After week 3 I am at £606! So grateful for every donation. Week 2 saw me run 2 half marathons, in week 3 I ran my longest run ever, 26kms. 
I am currently planning a fundraiser to spread a bit of awareness!

Week 1

Sunday 2nd Aug
Week one of my fundraising for WCRF managed to raise £569! I am so grateful for every donation ❤️ 

This weeks training consisted of 22km of running.

That means next week I will be running 2 half marathons as promised. I will post updates next weekend after they are complete!

Double Marathon 2027

Wednesday 29th Jul
Hi, my name is Ella.

Next year I will be running 2 marathons in 2 weeks to raise money for World Cancer Research Fund UK. 

I will start by running the 2027 Manchester Marathon on Sunday 18th April, then finish with the 2027 London Marathon on Sunday 25th April. 

Cancer affects the lives of so many people and most of us know someone that has been affected by it whether it be family, friends or colleagues. In 2023 I lost my grandad to cancer after a long fought journey. Losing someone you love to cancer really changes your life and there is nothing I want to do more than make my grandad proud, which is why I have set this challenge.

It is estimated that 37-40% of cancer is preventable worldwide. More than 1 in 3 cancer cases could be prevented with the help of research charities. That’s why I am proud to be fundraising for the World Cancer Research Fund, a charity whose work helps fund research into cancer prevention and provides trusted advice on how lifestyle choices can help to reduce cancer risk.

If you are able to support me, whether that be through a donation or through sharing this page will be really appreciated. Every donation / share will help with motivation through the long winter training runs and every one of the 52.4 miles I’ll be running across Manchester and London!

I will regularly post training updates on this page, along with on social media and strava so please feel free to follow along! 

For every £250 raised, I will run a half marathon the week after!
