Why World Cancer Research Fund?

I'm running the London Marathon in support of the World Cancer Research Fund, a cause that is close to my heart.
After overcoming lung cancer more than a decade ago, my nanny was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer last year.
If you know my nanny, you'll know she's kind, gentle, funny, and incredibly supportive. She's always been the person to offer a cup of tea (with a slice of cake!), ask how you are, and make everyone around her feel at home. She gives so much to the people she loves, and she is my biggest motivation for taking on this challenge.
I'm proud to be raising money for the World Cancer Research Fund and helping support the important work they do to prevent cancer.
Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.
As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.
While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.
This will be the biggest physical challenge I've ever taken on, but I'll be thinking of my nanny every step of the way.
Thank you so much for your support!
