Why I'm running for World Cancer Research Fund
For those of you who know me - you know I love to put my trainers on at any opportunity. However, I thought I'd put my passion towards something that really counts - raising money for a cause that can make impact.
Earlier this year, cancer became personal for my family when my dad was diagnosed. Watching him go through treatment, and seeing how it's affected my mum and sister too, has shown me just how much cancer impacts entire family units - emotionally, practically, and financially.
During this challenging time, running became a bit of a lifeline for us. I encouraged my mum to start running, and she's found it's given her real peace throughout Dad's treatment process.
That's why I'm running the Chicago Marathon for World Cancer Research Fund. Every day in the UK, around 1,100 people hear the words "you have cancer." WCRF has been funding life-saving research and prevention work since 1982, helping people live longer, healthier lives.
The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going. Thank you so much for your support - it truly means a lot.
