Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Now doing 2026 due to a stress fracture!! But we back and better than ever ❤️

As many of you know, in October of 2023, after a very short, 3 week battle with lung cancer, I lost my incredible, incredible mum.

As many of you also know, my mum is absolutely EVERYTHING to me.

The pain and grief of losing her has been beyond anything I could actually ever imagine, and sometimes I still just can’t get my head around the fact that I will never get to see my soulmate, best friend, biggest supporter, best hug giver, ever again. The harsh reality of it literally floors me every single day. And just as devastatingly, I’m not alone in this reality.

Cancer is a brutal disease tearing endless families apart. Unfairly putting innocent sufferers through the biggest battle of their lives. Cancer is unrelenting, and spares no one, young or old.

I am aware that not a thing can be done differently for my mums story, but there is a chance for other peoples stories not to end this way. For other daughters to have their mums for longer.

This is why I wanted to do something to make a difference and applied to the London Marathon to represent the World Cancer Research Fund. Never in a million years did I think I would get chosen BUT by some incredible miracle (maybe I need to thank my momma for pulling a few strings up there) I have been given a place to represent the team.

So a little bit about why I wanted to run for this wonderful charity:

Every single day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, which is around 155,000 people every year, which is a pretty staggering about. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate in their work to about reduce this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a HUGE part in keeping this going.

So with this - I would love to ask if you would consider donating. 💙 For those who didn’t get the chance, and for those, that hopefully, now will.

We love and remember always, my gorgeous mum, Anne, the funniest chap ever, Josh, and the coolest girl, Kezzy 🩷 And for all those who are battling right now 🩷
