Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

London Marathon 2027

In April 2027, I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon to raise money for World Cancer Research Fund. This cause is close to my heart, as I sadly lost my father to cancer — an experience that has deeply shaped my life and encouraged me to contribute to the fight against this disease.

The past couple of years haven’t been kind to my marathon ambitions. In 2024, I was forced to pull out of the Valencia Marathon just a month before race day due to injury. Then, in 2025, after months of hard training for London, injury struck again — this time at 24km into the race, ending my day far earlier than I had hoped.

With the support of everyone who donates, I’m aiming not only to make it to the start line fit and healthy, but to cross the finish line knowing I’ve helped make a difference and raised some money along the way.
