Why World Cancer Research Fund?
Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.
As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.
While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

Chicago Marathon 2026
Wednesday 15th AprThis year, I will be running Chicago Marathon in support of the amazing charity, World Cancer Research Fund (partly for the challenge, partly for the atmosphere, and mostly for a cause that touches all of us in one way or another).
While I have always been up for a small 5k or a parkrun, this is my first ever marathon, and I am already questioning my decision! Training has already been an adventure! Blisters, early mornings, and a lot of questionable life choices are guaranteed, but knowing why I am doing this keeps me going.
Cancer has affected so many people I love. We sadly lost my Grandad to bowel cancer when I was young, and we’ve always felt his absence when we continue to make wonderful memories as a family. Since then, cancer has continued to impact my friends and family in different ways.
That’s why I'm raising money for the World Cancer Research Fund, supporting vital work into prevention, research, and awareness. If my sore legs can help make even a small difference, it’ll be more than worth it.
If you’re able to donate, I would be incredibly grateful. Thanks so much for your support and wish me luck!!
