Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

My Updates

Austin Strong

Monday 29th Sep

In 2021 my father completed the NYC marathon. It was something he wanted so badly to accomplish after watching my brother and I become long distance runners and multi-time marathoners. I was so excited for him. At 60 years young he accomplished something that only about 1% of the world's population will ever complete, his very first marathon!

So imagine our surprise 2 months later when he was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. In true Austin fashion, my father put up an amazing fight for about 11 months. We are Austin Strong! Thanks to the existing research and treatment that currently exists for cancer patients my dad was able to fight until his body succumbed to cancer on November 4, 2022.

Having seen firsthand what cancer does to the body, I have a duty to be a part of the efforts to find a cure. Fundraising and running 26.2 miles with the World Cancer Research Fund will go a long way. One day we can live in a world where cancer can be cured and lives can be saved. We can all help make a difference.
