Why World Cancer Research Fund?

I’m running the London Marathon 2026 for World Cancer Research Fund and I need your help!

I’ve chosen to run for World Cancer Research Fund because cancer has touched my family in many ways. My mum always donated to cancer charities, and being able to continue that legacy means the world to me. She had the kindest heart and always looked for ways to help others, even when no one was watching. Supporting cancer research was something she quietly but consistently gave to. It was her way of standing with families going through incredibly tough times. Carrying on that part of her legacy feels like a true honour. It’s my way of celebrating the love, compassion, and strength she showed throughout her life. I hope I can make her proud.

My grandma is also a cancer survivor, and I’ve seen several other close family members and friends face this disease with remarkable strength and grace. Their courage reminds me daily of why this cause is so close to my heart ❤️

This cause is especially close to my heart right now, as I’m also running in memory of Sheena, my nieces' much-loved Gingi (grandma), who sadly lost her life to glioblastoma brain tumours in December. This is a horribly aggressive cancer where on average, people only have around 12-18 months to live after diagnosis. Sheena was a strong, brave woman, and the mother of my brother-in-law, who will be running alongside me on the day. We’ll be crossing that finish line in her honour.

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund are passionate about reducing this number.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

I’m aiming to raise over £3,000 for WCRF and I'd love your support in any way you can manage.
