Why World Cancer Research Fund?
When Amanda received a place in the 2027 London Marathon through the open ballot, I started looking for a way to run it with her. I was lucky enough to receive a charity place supporting the World Cancer Research Fund, which means we will get to take on this experience together while raising money for an important cause.
Cancer has affected far too many families, friends, and people in our lives. Supporting research that helps prevent cancer and gives people the chance to live longer, healthier lives gives this challenge an even greater purpose.
Amanda continues to thrive during her own cancer journey with courage, humility, and a quiet strength that inspires so many. The opportunity to run this historic marathon with her will be more special than I can even begin to put into words.

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.
As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.
While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.
