Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

London Marathon 2027, Why?!

Tuesday 14th Jul

In 2024, when she was just 44 years old, my mum was suddenly diagnosed with a brain tumour. We later found out it was a glioblastoma which is an aggressive grade 4 brain cancer with no cure. Just a few months later, in February 2025, I lost her, only days before my 18th birthday.

Nothing prepares you for watching someone you love go through something like that. My mum was such a healthy person, she was the last person anyone would have expected to be diagnosed with cancer. It was a reminder that cancer can happen to anyone.

Losing my mum has been the hardest thing I’ve ever been through, and not a day goes by that I don’t think about her. Running this marathon is my way of honouring her and turning something so painful into something positive.

I’m raising money in the hope that, one day, fewer families have to hear the words my family heard, and fewer people have to lose someone they love far too soon.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how much, I’d be so grateful. Every donation means more research, more hope, and one step closer to a future where families don’t have to experience the heartbreak that mine did.
