My Updates

Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Saturday 11th Jul
I lost both of my parents to cancer, most recently my Mum, who was my best friend and someone I miss dearly every day. While nothing can change what happened to my family, I want to do something positive in their memory, and for everyone who has lost a loved one to cancer or is living with the impact of this disease.

That is why I am incredibly proud to be running the 2027 TCS London Marathon for World Cancer Research Fund.

Every day, around 1,100 people hear the words "you have cancer". Even more remarkably, research suggests that over 420 of those cases could potentially be prevented. That's around 155,000 people every year whose lives could be changed through better understanding of cancer prevention.

Since 1982, World Cancer Research Fund has been funding life-saving research, helping shape global health policy and providing evidence-based advice to help people reduce their cancer risk and improve survival. While the search for better treatments and cures continues, the charity is focused on giving more people the chance to live longer, healthier lives, free from the devastating impact of cancer.

Training for a marathon will undoubtedly be one of the toughest physical and mental challenges I've ever taken on, but every mile will have a purpose. I'll be running in memory of my Mum and Dad, for those around me that have been affected by cancer, and for those who are unable to take part themselves, while raising funds to support research that could help spare other families from experiencing the same heartbreak.

If you're able to support me, whether that's through a donation, sharing this page or simply cheering me on along the way, it would mean the world to me. every contribution, no matter the size, helps World Cancer Research Fund continue its vital work.

If you have a story to share, or simply want to talk, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'll be using this blog to share my own journey, my training progress, and if you're happy for me to, some stories of others whose lives have also been touched by cancer.

Thank you so much for your support. It genuinely means more than you'll ever know.
