What and Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

My Updates

Mama's support

Wednesday 23rd Sep
My mom has been my dad's steadiest support through his cancer journey. She is his advocate at appointments and the person keeping everything together at home.

When eating became difficult, she taught herself soup recipes, one after another, looking for something he could actually get down. They have always loved to travel, and I think a lot about the trips still ahead of them in their retirement.

I am running London for both of them really. Caregivers carry a lot that no one sees, and I wanted to call that out here.

Thank you for all your love and support Mama!

From Northeastern Track to Something Bigger

Wednesday 23rd Sep
Running has been part of my life for a long time, but the meaning has shifted.

At Northeastern, I was a D1 Track & Field athlete. I ran for something larger than myself, representing my school alongside teammates who became close friends. I loved the structure of it. After I graduated, I struggled to find that same sense of purpose in my own training without the team and routine I had before.

After graduating, I channeled that energy into something new. I now own a run club, Washed Up Run Club, and I think a lot about what it means to have a community and lead by example. Running London for the World Cancer Research Fund is a way to tie that together with something that matters deeply to me and my family.

S/o to my CTAC and Northeastern teammates, and to everyone who has run alongside me since

Debut Marathon

Wednesday 23rd Sep
Toronto was my first marathon. I did not know what to expect, but seeing my family and friends out on the course made a real difference in how I got through it.

That race is where the idea took shape of running all World Marathon Majors before I turn 30. London will be my 3rd, and the one I have been thinking about the most.

The goals keep getting bigger

My Dad - The Reason I Am Running for WCR

Wednesday 23rd Sep

My dad is my inspiration and the reason I am fundraising for the World Cancer Research Fund. About a year ago, he started a chemo-radiation for a largely preventable cancer.

Treatment took a lot from him. His voice, his appetite, the ease of eating and talking. He is still on his recovery journey and getting stronger every day!

I am running the 2027 London Marathon because prevention is the approach I want to put this effort behind. Around 40% of cancers are preventable, and that is the work the World Cancer Research Fund focuses on

Thank you for all the support!
