Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

Sophia's Journey to London

Monday 27th Jul
Hey guys, I am SO excited to announce that I will be running the 2027 London Marathon next April with World Cancer Research Fund!

As a nurse in women's health, I've met women whose lives have been forever changed by a cancer diagnosis. I've witnessed not only the physical challenges they face, but also the emotional strength, resilience, and hope they carry through every appointment, treatment, and conversation.

Running one of the World Marathon Majors, specifically London, has been a dream of mine for years. The fact that I now have the opportunity to achieve that goal while supporting a cause that means so much to me makes this experience even more special.

The World Cancer Research Fund is dedicated to funding research that helps prevent cancer before it starts through better understanding of nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle. Supporting research that has the potential to reduce the number of people who ever have to hear the words, "You have cancer," is something I deeply believe in.

If you're able to support my fundraising, thank you. Whether through a donation, sharing my page, or cheering me on along the way, you're helping fund research that has the potential to save lives and create a healthier future.

Cheers,
Sophia
