Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.

Why I'm Running...

Saturday 1st Aug
I’m running the London Marathon in memory of my Dad, who sadly passed away from bowel cancer 21 years ago. He was the kindest, most caring person, and losing him left a lasting impact on our family. Even after all these years, he is still deeply missed, and the love, kindness, and values he shared continue to inspire me every day.

This year, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon alongside my son, and being able to share this experience with him makes it even more special. It’s a moment I’ll always be proud of and one that means a great deal to both of us.

By taking on this challenge, I hope to honour my dad while supporting the incredible work of the World Cancer Research Fund. Their research and education help people make informed choices that can reduce the risk of cancer, improve health, and ultimately save lives.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help fund vital research and bring us one step closer to a future where fewer families have to experience the heartbreak of losing someone they love.
