Why World Cancer Research Fund?

When I decided to enter the 2026 London Marathon, I knew I wanted to run for a charity that focuses on cancer research. In 2019, my mom was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer, and she was told that she’d have to live with it for the rest of her life. It wasn’t until a year ago that I found out that she was also given just 5 years to live. If you’re lucky enough to know my mom, it won’t come as a shock when I tell you that she refused to accept that limitation or let her prognosis stop her from helping and inspiring people through her work.

Now, nearly 7 years later, she has been told that even though she will never be cancer-free, she’ll live for many more years! I’m incredibly grateful to be able to say that she continues to teach me new recipes in the kitchen, guide me in my career, give me dating advice, and occasionally moan at me for not cleaning the counter properly after I cook 😂.

Every step I take in training is for those who can’t. While my family has been super lucky, I know that’s not the case for many others. So I’m running for everyone facing cancer, for their loved ones and especially for my gorgeous mother. The World Cancer Research Fund is doing brilliant work and I’m really proud to support them with every kilometer and sore muscle!

I am deeply grateful for any support, whether it’s a donation, a share or cheering me on! Feel free to stay updated on this crazy adventure by following me on TikTok and Instagram, where I will be sharing this challenging but exciting journey - @rainescottt

WISH ME LUCK! 🍀

My first 10k race!

Saturday 9th Aug

Just a year ago, I would’ve laughed at the idea of calling a 10k run fun—but here I am, filled with excitement after crossing the finish line at the Totalsports Women’s Race in Cape Town!

Two weeks ago, I did my first long run of 8km, a milestone that felt huge at the time. Today, I pushed even further, completing my first-ever 10k in 1:05:57. I’m beyond proud of myself! Those hills were no joke—they tested my grit and determination—but the cheers, encouragement from the crowd and the shared spirit of the other runners truly motivated me to push.

This race marks another step on my journey to the 2026 London Marathon, and I’m enjoying  every sweaty moment of this journey. What keeps me going is the overwhelming love, support, and donations from all of you. From the bottom of my heart—thank you, thank you, thank you! 🩷
