Why I'm fundraising to fight cancer?
My best mate Dan (DLT) passed away on 21st December after his battle against brain cancer. He had suffered with brain tumours for a few years and received amazing support and help throughout. This is my little way of chipping in.
I'll be running the London Marathon in April and thought I'd add another couple of challenges to the mix. He helped me decide on the runs I'd undertake, and I always assumed he'd be able to join me for a beer at the finish line. Guess I'll now be running in his memory and trying to give it my all!
To start, I'll be running a double ultra marathon (100km) along the Tarka Trail in my new home of North Devon. This will begin in Ilfracombe and finish at the start of Dartmoor National Park in Okehampton. Four weeks later I'll run an ultra marathon (50km) across the snow capped mountains of Snowdonia (affectionately called the Dragon's Fire) in my original home of Wales. My route will be starting on the north coast at Conwy, and then I'll head up and down all 16 of the highest mountains in the range that are each above 3,000 feet high. This will then culminate in another four weeks with the world's best marathon in London (42km) - rounding out a huge 58 days.

The first two runs will be self-raced while the London Marathon is a race. I'll be keeping this page updated with my prep and progress (and possibly tears).

Why World Cancer Research Fund?
Monday 10th NovEvery day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year.
World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.
As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.
While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.
